Just the Three of Us: Chapter 12

Everyone went their separate ways after that, Eric and Julia getting into Eric's car, disappearing into the London night.

"Mike," asked TJ, grabbing hold of his friend's arm.

"Yeah?"

"You going to be alright on your own?"

"Yeah. I'll listen to John, Gray and Gillie be foolish, getting sodding drunk and singing 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall or somethin'. Be a good distraction."

TJ nodded. "Ring if you need a ride home or somethin'."

"You'll be asleep."

"Maybe so, but Allie'll hear the phone. She'll find some way to get me awake."

"Ok," said Mike, softly. "Thanks, mate."

"No problem."

Eric and Julia, meanwhile, were full of the giggles, having both snuck in to the cinema without being recognised, and just larking about on their own, finally able to be out as a couple sans everyone else.

It's great to be with the gang, but it's nice to be on your own too.

They went to the restaurant that TJ had mentioned, and it turned out to be fantabulous as far as Julia was concerned. She noticed a guy across the way who was some sort of lounge singer or some rubbish, and he was singing something in French.

"He's lousy isn't he?" said Eric.

"A bit peculiar, yes. I dunno what he's saying exactly, but it doesn't sound good."

"I probably could do something better," said Eric, a mischievious look on his face.

"Yeah?"

When the guy started up again, Eric sang softly in Julia's ear.

"You're right," she whispered. "You're a thousand percent better."

They paused, just looking at each other. Julia's vision began to blur, her heart beating as furiously as it had just hours before.  Eric seemed to gaze into her soul as he looked at her, almost as if he could read her mind.

Then she knew.

"Let's go," he said softly.

She nodded.

On the way home, she felt as if she had a knot in her stomach, and tried her best to calm herself down, to maintain her composure.

But the thoughts running through her head...this was it...

She glanced toward Eric, whose focus was on the road, but the way he looked while doing it...

Christ! What's wrong with me! All I can think about is shagging him right in the car..right here right now...Lord knows what he's thinking.

Eric pulled the car in to the carpark, and turned to look at her. His eyes were darker looking than they'd been before, so blue she felt as if she could drown in them.

"Julia," he said in a rough voice.

She blinked.

"I've kept my promise..really really tried."

She nodded, a blush beginning to burn 'cross her face.

"I can't anymore."

Neither can I...oh goodness..neither can I..

"Let's go," he whispered.

Julia nodded, unable to speak, unable to find any words whatsoever.

They got out of the car, and when they finally had made it into the flat, Eric locked the door behind him, turning to look at her again.

This is it...This is IT!

He came forward to her then, pulling her close.

Julia felt her heart do that crazy racehorse thing again, so much so she felt like it'd blow up to pieces any second. The room went blurry, the air harder to breathe, as he tightened his hold on her, and kissed her much as he had back in the tv studio.  One hand stayed round her back, the other going up to the back of her head, taking hold of part of her hair. She allowed herself to fall into him, to let him take the reins, to take control of her.

She shuddered at the feeling of him on her neck, the feeling of his breath, of his kiss on her skin, as she hid her face in his shoulder.

I'm falling to pieces even more by the second...every single second..

Eric drew back from her for a moment, causing Julia to look at him. He growled softly under his breath as he did so, noticing the blush 'cross her face, the sleepy look to her eyes, the shakiness of her breathing, him knowing that it was because of him, of what he'd done to her.

He felt her tremble under his gaze, much as she had the first time they were ever close.

And it was true what he'd said, he'd kept his promise.

Eric did just as he'd said he would, showing Julia nothing but respect in the matter, going only as far as she was willing to go, slamming on the brakes 'fore it went too far.

It was what'd happened tonight that put an end to his self control.

What she'd done.

His brain had spun with his love for her, with his need for her.

He knew he'd be the only one, he knew he wanted to do right by her.

And the sitting room floor just wouldn't do it.

He swept her up, then headed up the stairs, holding on as he carried her.

Headed down the hallway to his room.

That had been another measure of restraint, sleeping in separate rooms.

What happened next seemed like a dream.

Learning...seeing..it seemed like what was happening there was the only thing, that the world disappeared except for the two of them.

"Let me know if anything's wrong," he whispered. " Just say so."

"Ok," she whispered. "I think things will.."

Eric kissed her then, Julia felt like thinking really wasn't that necessary anymore.

"I love you," he whispered.

"I love you too," she whispered back.

He watched her at the moment he took her, watched her surrender herself.

Part of him didn't want to be gentle. It made his insides feel like a tiger boxed in a cage, but he loved her enough to be gentle, to show her the wait was actually worth something. Animal stuff would have to wait for another time. He would get personal happiness from making her happy.

That was enough for him.

They made love for what seemed like an eternity, Eric's eyes never leaving her face. He felt the end coming, but he allowed her to come home 'fore he did, one more act of love.

They then fell asleep, much as they had the first night together.

"Good night darling."

"Good night love."
