On the other side of the forest, Eric
nudged John.
He wasn't in the upcoming scene, Eric thought. So
John'd have a free minute.
"I need your help, mate,"
he said, nudging his friend on the arm.
"What's
on?"
"I've got a problem," whispered
Eric.
"What?"
"I've GOT a
problem."
"What is it?"
"I cheated
on Julia," whispered Eric, the empty feeling returning to the
pit of his stomach.
"WHAT!"
"Shh... Keep
your voice down!"
"You cheated on her?
WHEN?"
"Apparently twice, once before, 'fore you and
Con and my girl got here, and...and...last night."
"Have
you BLOODY lost your mind?"
"I must 'ave,Johnny. I
was drunk both times, I'm sure, I know I was last night. But.. but I
don't remember the first time."
John nodded.
"What
should I do?"
"Were you getting revenge on her for
leaving you?"
"What? NO!"
"Julia
told me about leaving that ring you gave her on the pillow the night
she left."
"Did she?"
"She told me
that she thought if she was gone and out of the way, things would be
better for everybody."
"Oh no.. no no no.."
"And
while she's off feeling sorry for herself, you go and shag the first
girl you lay your eyes on."
"I didn't start it..this
girl found me. Both bloody times she found me."
"Which
one?"
"That Irish bird, K..Kathy..Kathleen, that' s
her name. Kathleen."
"The scrubber. You go and cheat
on the girl you were planning to marry with a right scrubber."
"I
know.." moaned Eric, his hands covering his face.
"You
should be ashamed. Really ashamed." John looked at Eric
sternly as he spoke. "But it's not my place to judge,
it's Julie's. What you have to do is this, just simply tell her the
truth."
"She'll never have anything to do with me
again if I do."
"You think it's right to simply lie
to her?"
"NO."
"It'd be her
decision what to do next when you tell her. I'm in no place to speak
for her, to tell you what she would say. Just hope for the best and
prepare for the worst. "
Across the way, TJ observed
Michael and Julia.
They certainly were acting MUCH differently
than before.
He'd never seen Julie so happy.
And
Michael..his old friend looked as if a weight had been lifted
off.
When TJ turned his head away for a moment, he missed one
crucial thing.
Julia, standing across the way, behind a tree,
musing over what she was supposed to do in the scene.
"Hey,"
said a voice from behind her.
She turned quickly around,
steeling herself for whomever it may be.
And was greeted by a
kiss.
A very deep, very lovely kiss, that came as she was
pressed up against the trunk of the tree.
"I know you
told me I should stay away," whispered a familiar Yorkshire
voice. "But I couldn't. I just couldn't."
She opened
her eyes to see bright brown eyes peeking out from underneath a HUGE
helmet.
Neither could I..Neither could I.
