Nowadays Every Night: Chapter 13

A couple of hours later, they talked.

"I had feelings for you ever since I met you," he told her. "Well..shortly after."

"I did later on," said Julia. "That was one of the reasons I left."

"You shouldn't have left," said Michael. "You have no idea how badly I missed you."

"And I missed you, along with everyone else. But you see, that's when I'd started really having feelings for you. And to add to it, Eric. I loved him. And we were engaged to be married."

"Oh.." said Michael thoughtfully. "That explains a lot."

"I couldn't cope..what with the fighting and carrying on..plus..how could I marry Eric..when I loved you?"

Michael's cheeks turned pink.

"And when I came back 'ere, everything woke back up, nowadays, every night, I even started picturing in my brain what it would be like to sleep with you..having really sexual thoughts about you..even when Eric and I would make love, I'd see your face."

"And now you know," he said sheepishly. "I did the same. Only in my dreams I did that, thinking about you that way."

"Trouble is..I still love him, even after what he's done. I still love him. I've basically done the same as he's done to me..I've helped you hurt someone. And I'll always care about you, even though this can't be anymore..even though we can't be."

Michael nodded. "I know," he said softly. "But I'll tell you something."

"What?"

"Who says we can't at least tonight?" he whispered in her ear.

Julia couldn't help but smile. "True," she whispered. "You've worn me out twice already."

Michael just grinned from ear to ear.

"I promise," he said softly, cuddling Julia close to him before he kissed her. "I'll go a LOT slower this time."

"Can I count on that?"

"For sure," whispered Michael. "I ALWAYS keep my promises."
